ECHMC YOUTH MINIATURE HORSE ESSAY CONTEST
For those not attending the August 2010 meeting, it was announced that Merry Black has donated a nice show quality colt to be given to a youth member of the club. And to encourage new youth members, any youth that joins before the contest closes is eligible to enter. It will be presented at the October Spooktackular show. The essay will be judged by an independent judge, that is not a member of the club or a direct relative of the youth. All essays will be given a numeric designation before given to the judge to ensure the judge can be totally impartial. The rules are as follows:
A - ECHMC liability waiver.
1- A parent or guardian must sign the waiver below of liability of the ECHMC before the horse can been received, and must accompany the essay. Please sign below waiver and attach a copy of this entire page with the essay.
2- The parent or guardian must insure the club that the horse will have a satisfactory home. The ECHMC has final say, above the judge to insure proper care is planned by the winner to care for the horse.
B - The essay must include the following along with any additional comments that the youth thinks will show why they should win.
1 - Who will care for the horse (No names, only title, i.e. youth, parent, grandparent, etc)? This is to help keep the youth unknown to the judge.
2 – What type of environment will the horse live in, pasture, barn, etc.
3 – What the youth plans to do with the horse, i.e. show, pet, etc.
4 – Why they think they should win the horse.
5 – All essays must be received by October 15, 2010. Mail to the President of the club @ Jim Frazier, 4535 Emanuel Rd, Mt Pleasant, NC 28124
6 – Put youths name, address, and phone number on this form and not on the essay, as it will be forward to the judge with a number only.
The winner will be responsible to pick up the horse at the Spooktackular show in October, or make plans for someone do so for him or her.
I, the parent or legal guardian, do not and will not hold the ECMHC liable for any responsibility for the health, care, or actions of the horse once it is received:
