July 25, 2009 Meeting
Bobby Bridges called the meeting to order and welcomed all folks there new or returning.
The Invocation was given by Darlene Bridges.
Darlene Bridges read the previous meeting Minutes. A motion to accept as read was given by Dan Mershon. A 2nd by Jim Frazier. The motion passed.
Dan Mershon gave the Treasurer’s Report. There is $23,255.90 in the club account. That is $863 less than the last report. The Austin Van Wyck clinic cost a total of $1624.14. Fees and rebate from AMHA totaled $1083.39. That makes the Net cost of the clinic $540.75.Darlene Bridges made a motion to accept as read. A 2nd was made by Cheryl Owen. The motion passed.
OLD BUSINESS
The Club Calendar issue was discussed. It was decided that there will be a calendar and the method to post bids will be the same as in the past. A sealed bid must be sent to Dan Mershon 2085 Gold Knob Rd Salisbury, NC 28146 by August 31st. The highest bidder will receive their choice of month. The 2nd choice of what is remaining, the 3rd… and so on. The minimum bid is $180. Ferin Mershon is in charge of getting the info into the company doing the calendar. The artwork is due in to her by October 10 to ensure a November delivery date. Direct all correspondence concerning your artwork to her at shortandsassystables@yahoo.com
Laura Beck notified us that the Non Profit status is still in the process.
When all the Non Profit business is taken care of Dan Mershon will get the Tax Returns taken care of.
NEW BUSINESS
Fall Spooktacular Fun Show: Darlene Bridges
It will be Saturday October 31 this year. It will again have a definite Halloween theme. The facility manager has sent the contract. We will be giving High Point awards for Youth 7 & Under, Youth 8 to 12, Youth 13-18, Adult, High Point Horse, and a Sportsmanship Award. The entry fee will be $20 for a 1 horse 1 exhibitor combination. Stalls are $5. We don’t have a Judge selected yet and we are in need of volunteers , 1 to man the gate , 2 Ring Steward, Announcer, & someone to compile entries and keep up with points. We’ll post the Rules and Class List online as well as a posting on Lil Beginnings.
Club giving Opportunities: AMHR Youth will receive $500 from the club just as last year. Jim Frazier will be in charge of getting the monies to the appropriate person.
In AMHA we will sponsor a Youth Team. Another opportunity is the “Classic Driving Exhibition class” at this year’s World Show. They need a ribbon sponsor. We will receive recognition in the MHW magazine as well as announcements at the World Show. The same total amount of money will be given. $500. Craig Bodenheimer made a motion to adjourn. Trish Coffman 2nd…and we did.
