Cherie of Blue Chip Miniatures gave 2 horse to Bit of Hope Ranch. Claire Nienast made a presentation concerning the need for miniature horses at Bit of Hope Ranch at our May meeting.
We will again donate $500 to AMHR for Youth Team Awards. AMHA will also benefit from a ECMHC $500 donation. We will be a Youth Team Sponsor there.
NEW BUSINESS
As most of you know we lost a very dear friend this year to cancer. Millie Smiley was a very active club member and she dearly loved the miniature horses. She lost her battle with cancer this month. The club voted to dedicate a sportsmanship award at our club sponsored shows or events in her name. Darlene Bridges made the motion and Jean Haines 2nd. It will be the Millie Smiley Memorial Sportsmanship Award.
She will be missed by all, but hopefully this will keep her memory alive for a very long time.
Trish Coffman made a motion to not have a 2011 Spring Fling Program. Andy Hunter 2nd , motion passed.
Instead we will be having a club calendar. We would be making many copies and giving them out at all of our club events throughout the year. At each event we will put an insert in the calendar for the class list or the event we are having. This will give the club advertisement, members the option to have a calendar page. We can advertise our shows, and it will get much more coverage for those that get the calendar page. These will be handed out at all events including Nationals and Worlds if we have any left over for the year. Right now we are looking at possibly an 18 month calendar. We will be sending out more details on this as we get more information. Club members will be able to place a bid for the calendar page, as we have done in the past. Starting bids will be $250 for a calendar page. Business cards will be $50. This idea will be contingent on the cost.
The October fun show also known as the Spooktacular will be held in Colfax, NC at Piedmont Saddle Club. We will again have a 1 horse/1 exhibitor combination fee. In addition to that fee exhibitors can also just pay a per class fee of $8 a class if they are not in multiple classes.
We will have a poster with class sponsors at the show as well as have the sponsors announced.
Trish Coffman made a motion to amend our current Show Rules to allow Yearlings & 2 year olds in Halter Obstacle. Teresa Plemmons 2nd, motion passed.
It was also suggested at the meeting that for the Spooktacular we set up a thread on the message board on our website at www.ecmhc.com for those individuals that want to show or have children that would like to show and may not have horses for them. And for those of us that have horses that they could show. For instance, if you have some horses being shown in the youth classes that an adult that wanted to practice showing could show if they like. Maybe some of you adults have horses that are not being shown in the youth classes that maybe a youth could show. If we open this thread on the message board maybe we could match up our horses and those that would like to show them. Our message board can only be posted by members . If you want to post and are not a member sendary Mary Frazier your post and what you are wanting or have to offer and she will be glad to post it for you.
Next year we would like to do something new with our youth members. A couple of our youth moms have discussed organizing our club youth for next year. Please e-mail Mary Frazier with your ideas as to what you would like to see in this organization for our youth. Also if you have a youth member please send Mary Frazier their names so that she can pass this along to those that will be working with them. If you would like to be one of our youth advisors please contact her as well and she will pass this information along as well. If you are not a member and would like to have your youth involved in this program please be sure to fill out a club application for membership for the year 2011. These new memberships for next year can be turned in after Oct 1 of this year and will cover your membership for the end of 2010 and all of 2011.You can find this application on the club website at www.ecmhc.com
We will once again be putting our club membership page in the AMHR Journal and the AMHA World magazines. All of our club members are welcome to have their names, farms etc. listed on that page. The information included by each family or person, includes their farm name if they have one, their address, Web page, and E-mail. The cost for each member that is included on the page is determined by the number of members that participate. It has been as much as $136 per person and as little as $90 each. You must become a club member for the 2011 year to participate. We have had many people contact us through our farm ad It also helps people who are moving find some mini people in their area and opens up the prospects for new buyers. Please contact Trish Coffman if you choose to have your names listed on the membership page. Her e-mail is Jayhope@aol.com She will be setting up the cutoff date, soon. She will also give you any more information you may need.
Laura Bodenheimer made a motion to discontinue or ads in The AMHR Journal and The MHW magazine advertising our Spring Fling show. Andy Hunter 2nd, motion passed.
