Welcome to the ECMHC Minutes from Jan 11, 2014
The meeting was called to order by Darlene Bridges at 11:15 and she gave our invocation. Darlene read the minutes from the last meeting of Dec 1, 2013. After reading, a motion was made to accept the minutes as read by Laura Bodenheimer with a second from Trudy Mershon, all in favor, motion passed.
Dan Mershon then gave a treasures report for the time period from Dec 1, 2013 to Jan 10, 2014, we well as a 2013 Year End Report.
Our current balance is $13,765.38 with an increase from Dec 1 by $1603.97. The increase if from:
$360 from Farm Ad payments (18 participated, 3 have paid in full)
$300 from Membership renewals and new memberships
$1525 from deposits/payments for Sponsorship Program
For the Year End Report:
Total Income for 2013: $63,276.02
Total Expenses for 2013: $67,010.27
With a total loss for 2013 of $3734.25 which is down from the 2012 profit of $4996.64.
A motion was made to accept both treasurers’ reports by Laura Bodenheimer with a second by Judy Roberts. All in favor, motion passed.
Old Business:
The Farm Ads have been sent to both association magazines, but with no logo as Kelly couldn’t reproduce the current logo. There were 18 participants with only 3 having paid their portion. Fifteen more are due.
Both of the show dates, Spring Fling and Summer Classic are on the Farm Ad page.
Kelly Roe was introduced and she gave a brief account of what she can do in the way of websites, ad pages, clipping and grooming, as well as her husband does clipper blade sharpening. Her website is www.kellyroephotography.com .
We talked about how the hospitality room was working during the shows. Judy Roberts reported that there isn’t as much interest or people just don’t know about it. She will also only be able to do the Spring Fling this year as they have other obligations during the Summer Classic. We will discuss the hospitality room more at later meetings but want to thank the Roberts for doing such a great job in the past.
New Business:
With the New Year, the membership benefits have changed. Now when you become a member, you will receive one free class per show at the Spring Fling and the Summer Classic. That means up to 4 free classes for each membership. You can only use one per show and there is only one per membership, individual or family.
The cost of shavings has gone up at the facility so we will be putting shavings out instead of having facility workers doing it. Shavings have to be preordered to get the $7 price. If you wait to get shavings when you come in, then they will be $7.50. Outside shavings are not allowed at this facility. There is also now showing off the trailer for $20 per horse for the entire show.
Laura Mullen is also talking to the facility restaurant about having them provide the food for our party instead of ordering pizza. This way we can use the inside table and it will not be a conflict. We will have more about this once it approved.
New for the Summer Classic will be a third judge for the AMHR show, all classes needed to be approved for the Area show for next year and during the AMHA show we will be having Open Show Classes. These will be for anyone who wants to show a mini 38” & under. The mini doesn’t have to be registered or measured. They will show to one judge for $10 a class, will have a Grand Champion for Halter and a High Point for Performance. We are hoping this will encourage more out there to give showing a try.
Once the class lists and premiums are approved, they will be posted online.
Darlene gave the open dates for the Lone Hickory Arena for the month of July, 18 – 20 and 25 – 27. We discussed having just a show or combining a show with a clinic. There was much discussion both for and against so the issue has been tabled until Darlene can talk to Michelle with the Johnston County Show Series to see if we can do a show together in their area in a different month than July.
Before the meeting adjourned, we thanked everyone who brought chili for our Chili Cook Off and announced the prize would be 4 Class Sponsorships in the shows of their choice.
Trudy Mershon made a motion to adjourn the meeting, Judy Roberts seconded with all in favor, and the meeting was adjourned to eat chili, brownies and spicy crackers.
The winner of the Chili Cook Off was Judy Roberts. All of the food was great.
