Agenda ECMHC Meeting August 18, 2013 2:00 pm
Attendees arrived and socialized while having light refreshments.
Laura Bodenheimer called meeting to order, welcomed everyone and introduced the club officers.
Darlene Bridges gave the invocation.
Darlene read the minutes from May 18, 2013 Meeting. Russ Roberts made a motion to accept as read, Sheryl Owen 2nd, motion passed.
Dan Mershon gave the Treasurers Report from May 2013 –present. The total in the club account is $14,144.55. There was an increase report are $384 for ribbons for the Fall Fun Show, and $20,647.74 for the Summer Classic. Major income since last report was $20,749.00 which was income from the Summer Classic. Karen Hunter made a motion to accept, Sheryl Owen 2nd, motion passed.
Old Business
In regard to the Summer Classic, the show earned $101.26 which is better than the $625.26 that was lost on the show in 2012. It was noted that in regard to all our shows, sponsorships are down.
Sheryl Owen made a motion to send the $500 each to AMHR and AMHA youth funds as we have been doing for the past several years. Bobby Bridges 2nd the motion and it passed.

Dates and location for 2014 Spring Fling are the Eastern NC Ag Center in Williamston, NC on April 17-20, 2014. Please save the date and plan to be there!
**Summer Classic will also be in Williamston June 12-15. Laura Mullen is submitting a bid for the club to host the 2014 Area III Show. We will know whether that will be in our 2014 plan by November. We will keep everyone posted.
**New Sponsorship Opportunities will be available for the 2014 Show Season, be on the lookout for news. Thank you to Karen Hunter for agreeing to be our Sponsorship Chairman.
**The beautiful Spring Fling Program will return for 2014 as well...thank you to Kelly Roe for agreeing to be our Program Chairman.
**Incentives are in the works for members as you join or renew your membership. We want you to feel like your membership is valuable!
2013 Spooktacular/Fall Fun Classic will be Saturday October 12; at the Lone Hickory Arena (http://lonehickoryarena.com/) The Show will start at 9:00 am. Check out the Upcoming events tab at ecmhc.com for more details.
We need to ask for volunteers for ring steward and announcer. There will again be a Silent Auction, so bring items to donate. There are always interesting finds and remember, it’s fee money for the club. Thank you in advance for your donations.
November 16, 2013 there will be a Fun Day Event at Aloha Acres! Thank you to Lee Crutchfield and Kirby Jones for inviting the club. We will post details later but save the date for November 16, 2013. We hope that we will gain new members and mini enthusiasts. It will be a great opportunity to learn and you’ll get to visit the Zoo as well!
EOY Awards have been posted on the website the final show to be included in our year end program is the Fall Fun Show October 12.
Equestrian Exchange in Raleigh at the Fairgrounds is Labor Day weekend. This is their 10th Anniversary. Please plan to attend; they have quite an assortment of Miniature horse items. Go to www.equestrianexchange.com/ for more information.
Farm Ads for 2014 for The Journal and Miniature Horse World magazines are due soon. Contact Bobby Bridges at bobbybridges55@hotmail.com to reserve your spot. This is a prime opportunity to be in all issues of both magazines for one fee. The exact amount won’t be known until we know how many are going to participate. The fee is usually around $100 though. The DEADLINE TO BE INCLUDED IS: November1, 2013.
December 1, 2013 will be the End of Year Banquet/Christmas Party. Location TBA.
We had the following special guests talk about their goods and services.
Karen Hunter offers a full slate of horse paperwork. She does individuals as well as large farms. She does all miniature horses and ponies. She even does the paperwork for cooled shipped semen and artificial insemination. She charges $15 an hour. Contact her @ kphunter@triad.rr.com for specifics.

Tricia is offering all sorts of mini related products that can be personalized. She has a new laser engraving machine that can engrave detailed photographs or graphics.
Mike & Kelly Roe have recently relocated to NC from Pennsylvania. We welcome them to our miniature horse community!

She and her husband Mike Roe are a “one stop shop” for having professional photos done of your miniature horses. They clip and facial the horse as well as get professional quality photos for you, all in one. Mike Roe also does clipper blade sharpening.
ECMHC is thankful for these folks coming to make us aware of what they all offer.
This year the NC State Fair is offering 2 days of Miniature horse shows! Wednesday October 23 will feature Open Miniature classes as well as an AMHR Performance Show. Thursday October 24 will feature an AMHA show that includes halter as well as Performance classes. The State Fair Mini committee made sure that the Western Country Pleasure classes were added to the AMHR show and the popular Classic Pleasure Driving classes were added to the AMHA show.
While these are not club sponsored shows they are great opportunities to show your miniature horses.
