Question: AMHA YOTE Have their own High Point Award PLUS they get to add those classes into the Youth High Points? Not sure how that is fair when the rest of the youth have to compete with the ones that get to use 6 extra classes! Looks like the same for AOTE, why do they have a seperate division with a HighPoint Award if they get the advantage to have extra classes within the open Awards?

I had this discussion on Springfling fb but I felt it should be on our club forum instead of facebook. Aubrey had posted that the club did this last year~ and I am referring to the YOTE division~ that we follow AMHA Regionals and World shows by absorbing the 6 or 7 classes into the individual youth age divisions....my words back are then it needs to be tweaked...I understand that some youths feel the "disadvantage" to have to train their own horses...I feel just the opposite! It is a Great Advantage! They have their own horses in their own private classes and still can show for others in the youth classes PLUS get those private points drafted into the youth division! How UNFAIR! Those of us who dream of a farm and are unable to have one that have to board our horses and use others horses should NOT have those points put back into our classes. The YOTE gets to show double classes~ earning double points.....How in the world is that fair? PLUS we have youth who show at our show in the AOTE division that send that same horse off later in the Summer to be trained/shown by a professional....So how does that effect our club show and points? Again needs alot of tweeking.

Thank you Laura for your email. If you want post on here so others can see the answer. I hate having posts without any answers or comments. Looks like there has been no discussion. As always you handled yourself in a professional manner.

I think it would be nice to post the answer here since it was posted publicly. I know I am curious as to the answer. Mary

Hi Teresa,
The show committee and the club officers have seen your posts on Facebook and on the club message board. We understand your concerns; however, there is no way to change the structure of the High Point awards at this point for 2012 as the premiums and class lists have been published. We always try to listen to members' suggestions and concerns and we will be discussing this for the 2013 show season. Certainly, we want everyone to feel like they are on a fair and level playing field at our club shows and want to ensure a friendly, competitive atmosphere.
Thanks for your support of the club,
Laura
