August 2010 Meeting
Jim Frazier called the meeting to order and thanked Vickie Almay and her family for having us for the meeting.
Darlene Bridges gave the invocation
Darlene Bridges read the minutes from the last meeting. Lynn Ezzell made a motion to accept as read, Cherie 2nd, motion passed.
Jim Frazier gave the Treasurer’s report on Dan Mershon's behalf. The total in the club account is $17,910.74. That is an increase of $222.25 from the last report. Trish Coffman has turned in $258 for Spooktacular class sponsorships. The report also included a quote for doing the club calendars. For 1000 calendars , July 2011 thru December 2012 it would be $3855.31. This total may change depending on the final product.
Bobby Bridges made a motion to accept as given, Cherie 2nd, motion passed.
OLD BUSINESS
In light of the calendar quote we discussed the bids for the calendar. The bids will probably be opened at the October meeting. Please be thinking about your artwork! That seems to be a problem to get in on time.
Raffle Tickets
We figured 250 tickets and sell them $5 each or 3 for $10.
Spooktacular
It will be Saturday October 30 at Piedmont Saddle Club in Colfax, NC.
We discussed the flat fee per Horse/ exhibitor combination. Cheryl Owens made a motion to make it $25, Lynn Ezzell 2nd, motion passed.
A suggestion was made to have Liberty 1st, Cherie made that motion, Cheryl 2nd, motion passed.
The show will start at 9:30. The tack vendor will be Lori Osborne. Matt Drown will be the Judge. Stalls will be $5.
The 2011 Performance Classic will be held June 25 & 26 at the Jim Hunt Horse Complex in Raleigh, NC. Because of the date being so close to the Fletcher Show Dixie Cohea can’t be the Show Manager. We had a really hard time finding an affordable facility for the show in a good location. Laura Mullen agreed to be the Show manager. We hope this location will be effective in drawing from Eastern NC and Virginia as well.
NEW BUSINESS
Merry Black has graciously donated a colt to be given to a Youth in our Club. This will be done by having the Youth participate in an Essay Contest. Look for details on the website or via mass emailings.
Cheryl Owens made a motion to adjourn, Cherie 2nd motion passed.
