December 6, 2015 ECMHC Meeting
The meeting was called to order by Pres Darlene Bridges. Darlene also gave our invocation.
We held the meeting at Mayberry’s in Winston Salem and the food was very good, but the ice cream was awesome.
The minutes from the last meeting were not available but we informed the attending members of a couple of things discussed.
We allotted $850 for year end awards with any additional monies coming from what the committee would bring in.
We also talked to the facilities at Fletcher and since they have raised their cost significantly and wanted a $2500 deposit to have our summer show there, we have decided to look for a new facility.
Dan Mershon gave the treasures report with most of the income and expenses coming from Spring Fling, Area 3 and Summer Classic AMHA show. We had an increase of $5674.17 from the March 7, 2015 report.
We had a loss from Spring Fling of $1392.41 and a profit from the Area3/Summer Classic of $1670.31. If anyone would like to see the full report, you can request a copy from Dan.
Amber Carter made a motion to accept the Treasurer’s report as read, Kim Altman second, all agreed, motion passed.
We discussed the shows for the coming year 2016. Spring Fling will still be in Williamston, NC but will be 3 days. April 15, 16 & 17, 2016. We have also found a facility in Madison, NC (just north of Greensboro, NC) that will let us do our Summer Classic. Those days are July 30 & 31. It will be two days, one day AMHR and one day AMHA. There will be 2 judges for the AMHR show and 3 for the AMHA show.
We will also be doing a clinic March 19, 2016 at the Madison, NC facility. We will have a farrier (he will also be available to trim horses), clipping demos, people that can help you with showing halter, regular or stock type, and answer your questions. We should also have people that can teach you how to harness a horse. We are looking for to helping the miniature horse owners in our area to learn about their breed. If you have any other things you would like to know, we can try to work in more people. Members will be free, non members are $35. There will be a small charge to bring your own horse unless you are bringing the horse for the farrier. We also plan to do more clinics and farm visits in the coming year. If you would like to host a meeting, just let us know.
In a discussion about the Club Farm Ads that are in both breed magazines, Amber Carter asked if the club was listed in any other way and Darlene told us that we are listed in the approved clubs section. Amber then made a motion to suspend the ads for now. Kelly Roe second the motion, all in favor, motion passed. Darlene did tell the members that we can put our show bills on the AMHA website for $50 a show.
As this was the last meeting of the year, we took nominations for the 2016 Board.
Nominations were as follows:
