November 20, 2011- End of year Meeting/ Party
Jim Frazier called the Meeting to order
Joe Puckett gave the Invocation & blessed our meal.
We all chatted and had a wonderful dinner with friends. There were lots of yummy goodies and many smiles.
We discussed the need for a new name for the show we will be doing in Raleigh, NC June 22-24. For the past 2 years it has been a Performance only show. We made the decision to have a complete AMHR & AMHA Show with Halter classes as well. Therefore; the name needs to be changed. We decided on the ECMHC Summer Classic.
We briefly discussed the notion of having some type of clinic in 2012. Several members present suggested that we do a Halter Clinic as we have done several clinics with a Performance focus already. The time, place and clinician is yet to be determined.
The club will once again have a Club Farm ad page in both the Journal and the MHW Magazine. If you would like to be included; send a YES to Bobby Bridges at blazen2@msn.com NO LATER THAN DECEMBER 5, 2011. IF you say yes, please be prepared to pay as soon as we notify you of the actual cost of the ad. Depending on how many we have, we'll tally up the cost and let you know. Last year, it ran about $109.00 per farm to be included, in both publications, all year long. So, it is a great way to make sure that YOU can be found in every magazine that is published next year. The only “rule” is that you have to be a club member, and that you pay your 2012 dues along with the payment for the ad. Payment will be due mid December 2011.
The final tallies are in on the Fall Fun Show. It is evident that the not so great weather affected the turn-out of exhibitors. The club lost $986.32. Last year we made $216.11. Some work needs to be done on the concept of this show to make it pay for itself if not make a little profit for the club. There are several things that are paid for every year that are in no way income producing. We pay Club insurance, as well as give Year-End High Point Awards. Food for thought.
Dan Mershon provided the following information.
Total money in the club account as of November 18, 2011 is $13,188.17.
That is a decrease of $1137.07 from the October 7th report. Major expenses since the last report were: $200 for AMHA youth (balance of agreed amount), $576.12 awards and gifts for Fun Show, $578.10 for Judge at the Fun Show, $655 for Piedmont Saddle Club for the Fun Show.
Elections of officers for the next year were held. The results are as follows: President-Laura Bodenheimer, Vice President- Bobby Bridges, Treasurer-Dan Mershon, Secretary- Darlene Bridges.
Sheryl Owen made the motion to adjourn & play our gift exchange game. Bobby Bridges 2nd Motion passed.
